The closing, announced to the workers severalkweeks ago, will take place by earlg July, said Robert Baugniet, a spokesmanj for the company’s General Dynamics Aviation Serviceas subsidiary. Baugniet said the closing was due to a declinrin business-jet use. He said therer are business-jet companies at the Minneapolis airport that have had to scalde back operations and let goof workers. “If they reducwe operations, they don’t need servicing. That’s what we do. We’rre a service business in that he said. Baugniet said the company’w other service centers acrosss the country willremaihn open.
But even at those centers, workerz have been let go and hourss of remaining workers havebeen reduced. The 73 Twin Cities workers being let go are part of an broadetr layoffof 1,200 General Dynamics workers that the Fallds Church, Va.-based company .
