Virchow, which changes its name to Baker Tillyh on June1 (to match that of the Britisg accounting network it’s a memberf of) has attracted 20 new companies to its Life Sciencess Practice Group in the past year, bringing its number of clientas to 60. Fees from the practice which is a subset of itsmanufacturing group, have grown 40 percentr over that year. The grou also has increased its head count from 15to 20. “We’res putting more focus on growingthis sector,” said Mike a partner who heads up the firm’s emerging-technologies-industry practicd group. “We saw the markeyt opportunity and the timingis right.
” Virchow is tryingt to leverage its focus on the middle market to woo the many small- to mid-size medical-device companies in the metro The company focuses on companies with less than $50 millionj in revenue. Besides the accounting service Virchow isknown for, it provides variousd consulting services that it tailors to emerginhg medical-device companies. Startup med-tecn companies are unusual in that they can take yearsx before they start seeingregular revenue.
